 American Fork Children’s Choir

“DE COLORES PART 1: A CELEBRATION OF TRUE COLORS”
Monday, March 26th, 7pm at Greenwood Elementary Auditorium, 50 E 200 S, American Fork, UT 84003. FREE. Join the American Fork Children’s Choir for the first of two spring concerts celebrating ‘De Colores’ where each song features a different color (red, blue, gold, green, etc.) and all are ‘beautiful, like a rainbow,’ to quote the recent Trolls cover of the 80’s Cyndi Lauper hit the combined choirs will be performing as a finale to the concert. Come celebrate the first week of Spring with us and we promise you won’t feel the concert feeling blue!

American Fork Symphony

“SALUTE TO YOUTH” Concert
Six of Utah’s most talented young musicians will join the American Fork Symphony as soloists during the symphony’s Salute to Youth concert on April 16, 7 p.m. at American Fork Junior High School, 20 W. 1120 North. $5 adults, $3 children 3-18, $15 family pass. Six young musicians were chosen through an audition process to solo with the symphony: pianist Julia van der Beek, 9, of American Fork; pianist Sabrina Allen, 13, of Provo; pianist John Zhao, 15, of Midvale; harpist Julia Johnson, 16, of Orem; violinist Taya Tippetts, 16, of Mapleton; and cellist Nathan Heyrand, 16, of Highland. Tickets will be available at the door and seating is general admission.

American Fork Youth Theater

“DISNEY’S JUNGLE BOOK KIDS”
American Fork Youth Theater’s Premier Troupe performs Disney’s Jungle Book Kids 03/15/2018 – 03/17/2018 at 6:30 & 7:30pm at the American Fork Junior High, 20 W 1120 N in American Fork. Advance tickets are available at americanforkarts.com/jungle-book-kids for $2. Tickets at the door are $3.
Adapted from Disney’s beloved animated film and the works of Rudyard Kipling, the “man cub” Mowgli bounds through the jungle and learns what it means to be human. AFYT Musical Theater Dance Class
Class to help build jazz and ballet technique that will strengthen musical theater choreography skills. Tuesdays 4-5 p.m. January-March at the Am. Fork Veteran’s Hall. $25/month. This class is designed for boys and girls who are interested in learning dance technique to help them in their musical theater pursuits. We will focus on building jazz and ballet technique that will strengthen musical theater choreography skills. No recital or costume fees.

PASTELS with SAMANTHA LONG
March 10th and 17th, 2018 from 10AM to 1PM at Historic City Hall, Room B, 31 N Church St, American Fork. Two, three hour sessions – $25.00. Supply list: americanforkarts.com/pastels-by-samantha-long … Learn to use pastels to create exciting images on Saturdays 3/10/2018 and 3/17/2018, 10 AM til 1PM at 31 N. Church Street, American Fork, UT (the Old Historic City Hall Bldg). $25 for the class. This is your opportunity to learn how to use pastels in a creative way, to express yourself with this exciting medium. The instructor will demonstrate the wide variety of uses for pastels and then give you the opportunity to play and use the medium yourself. Enjoy a great experience and learn how to paint with pastels.

CALLIGRAPHY CLASS
Learn the art of calligraphy, 4/4& 11, 6-8 PM at The American Fork Arts Institute, 53 W Main Street. $25. This class will introduce you to the art of calligraphy. You will learn how to use the pens and various nibs to create intricate letter forms. With these basics you will be able to create your very own letters and signs. The instructor for this class is Lauren Fancher and she is an accomplished calligrapher and will teach you what you need to know to advance your own abilities in calligraphy.

FUNDAMENTALS OF ART
This is a class that will introduce new artists to the basic elements and principles of art. 4/21, 10 AM to 4 PM at the American Fork Arts Institute, 53 W Main Street. $40. This six hour class will discuss the basic elements and principles of art – Line, Shape, Form, Value, Space, and Texture. Attendees will be presented with information that will give them a solid foundation upon which to build their art. The students will have, as the class goes along, an opportunity to practice their skills based on the information shared. We will serve lunch at the middle of the class and at the end each student will receive a CD with all of the materials discussed and additional articles from noted artists. This class is for people 14 and up.
