American Fork Children’s Choir

“DE COLORES PART 1:
A CELEBRATION OF TRUE COLORS”

Monday, March 26th, 7pm at Greenwood Elementary Auditorium, 50 E 200 S, American Fork, UT 84003. FREE. Join the American Fork Children’s Choir for the first of two spring concerts celebrating ‘De Colores’ where each song features a different color (red, blue, gold, green, etc.) and all are ‘beautiful, like a rainbow,’ to quote the recent Trolls cover of the 80’s Cyndi Lauper hit the combined choirs will be performing as a finale to the concert.

AFCC choirs (Gator Choir, Ukulele Youth Choir, Concert Choir, Chimes & Voices, and Ukulele 3-chord Choir) will also perform songs like Little Red Bird of the Lonely Moor, Red River Valley, Rose Red, Yellow Rose of Texas, Yellow Submarine, Golden Slumbers, Five Green and Speckled Frogs, Brother James’ Air, Backwater Blues, Worried Man Blues, Lavender’s Blue, and The Wild Mountain Thyme. Come celebrate the first week of Spring with us and we promise you won’t feel the concert feeling blue!

American Fork Youth Theater

DISNEY’S JUNGLE BOOK KIDS”

American Fork Youth Theater’s Premier Troupe performs Disney’s Jungle Book Kids 03/15/2018 – 03/17/2018 at 6:30 & 7:30pm at the  American Fork Junior High, 20 W 1120 N in American Fork. Advance tickets are available at americanforkarts.com/jungle-book-kids for $2. Tickets at the door are $3.

Adapted from Disney’s beloved animated film and the works of Rudyard Kipling, the “man cub” Mowgli bounds through the jungle and learns what it means to be human. AFYT Bravo Class

Beginning Musical Theater Class for K-2nd graders on Wednesdays 4-5 p.m., January – March at the American Fork Fitness Center. $30. The Bravo Class performs three pre-shows for Jungle Book in March.

AFYT Musical Theater Dance Class

Class to help build jazz and ballet technique that will strengthen musical theater choreography skills. Tuesdays 4-5 p.m. January-March at the Am. Fork Veteran’s Hall. $25/month. This class is designed for boys and girls who are interested in learning dance technique to help them in their musical theater pursuits. We will focus on building jazz and ballet technique that will strengthen musical theater choreography skills. No recital or costume fees.

Wasatch Show Band

Wasatch Show Band to Open for the Wasatch Winds

Experience an evening of exciting Latin, Rock, Funk, and Jazz favorites played live when the Wasatch Show Band and the Wasatch Winds share the stage on 2/26/2018, see Wasatch Winds below for details.

The Wasatch Show Band, with 5-10 trumpets, 6 trombones, 8 Saxes, 5 singers, and a rhythm section, plays popular music. The Wasatch Winds is a symphonic orchestra comprised of 60+ wind instruments. Both bands are led by the nationally-known member of the Music Educators Hall of Fame, John Miller.

“Latin Sounds”

The Wasatch Winds will present a concert of Latin selections on February 26th 7:30 PM at the  AFHS Auditorium, 510 North 600 East in American Fork. Adults: $5, Students: $3. Immediate Family: $15. Kids 5 and under: Free. Credit cards accepted at the door.

Selections to include: Amparito Roca, Blue Mambo, Burnin, Fiesta de La Vida, It Had Better Be Tonight, La Virgen de la Macarena, Malaguena, Man of La Mancha, and Mojaves Claves.

WATERCOLORS with Arlene Newcomb

February 17th and 24th, 2018 from 10AM to 1PM, Historic City Hall, Room B, 31 N Church St, American Fork.  Demonstrations, techniques, hands-on experience: two, three hour sessions – $25. All are invited – beginner or experienced.

This class invites you to learn and use watercolors in an exciting way. This is an opportunity to expand and explore how you can use watercolors to paint exciting images. Learn to paint utilizing watercolors in their wide range of applications from thick to thin. The instructor will take you through all these forms and share with you ideas, directions and applications. Be prepared to experiment with and learn all that watercolors have to offer.

PASTELS with SAMANTHA LONG

Learn to use pastels to create exciting images on Saturdays 3/10/2018 and 3/17/2018, 10 AM til 1PM at 31 N. Church Street, American Fork, UT (the Old Historic City Hall Bldg). $25 for the class. This is your opportunity to learn how to use pastels in a creative way, to express yourself with this exciting medium. The instructor will demonstrate the wide variety of uses for pastels and then give you the opportunity to play and use the medium yourself. Enjoy a great experience and learn how to paint with pastels.
