In this class, we will be learning basic jewelry making skills using wire and chain link connections which will be used to create personalized jewelry using traditional and non-traditional materials.
On the first week of class, students will learn general jewelry making terminology and will be introduced to basic tools, materials, and findings. We will practice making connections using wire, jump rings and beads to create a simple pair of earrings. We will also discuss options for making personalized jewelry pieces that we will work on the second week of class.
Jewelry pliers and cutters will be available to use in class or students may bring their own. Wire and generic beads will be provided the first week. Students will need to bring their own materials – personal beads, wire, chain or findings – to the second class or purchase generic bead and wire kits that will be available in class.
The instructor is Kim Grace. Kim is a mixed media artist who specializes in making one of a kind pieces using found or repurposed materials. She enjoys finding creative ways to combine traditional and non-traditional methods and materials.
