American Fork Symphony
JOIN THE SYMPHONY
The American Fork Symphony will celebrate its 25th year of creating beautiful music in American Fork during its 2018-19 season. The symphony will present five concerts during this season: Fall Concert, Oct. 15; Christmas Concert, Dec. 17; Winter Concert, Feb. 25, 2019; Salute to Youth Concert, April 22, 2019; and the symphony’s annual Steel Days concert in July of 2019. All concerts are presented in the auditorium at American Fork Junior High School. String players (violin, viola, cello and bass) are often needed for this non-auditioned group. Rehearsals for the 2018-19 season will begin on Saturday, Aug. 18. Rehearsals are held on Saturdays from 8 to 10 a.m. in the band room at AFJHS. American Fork Youth Theater
THEATRIX ACTING CLASS
An interactive 6-week course for 3rd – 12th graders designed to enhance children’s abilities to enjoy, appreciate and participate in theater. Tuesdays from 09/04/2018 – 10/9/2018 from 4-5 p.m. at the American Fork Veteran’s Hall. $60. This course covers the basics of theater auditions and will help students discover stronger acting technique as they expand vocal energy, improvisation and character skills. AFYT’s Upcoming Production/Auditions
R&H G2K Cinderella will take place Wednesdays, October-January from 5-7pm at the American Fork Fitness Center. $175 plus $15 registration fee. 7th-12th grade girls and 6th-12th grade boys are invited to audition for this upcoming AFYT production. Auditions will be held in September. Exact date TBA. Performances are January 11, 12 & 14, 2019. Come prepared to sing 18 bars of a “Broadway” style song of your choice. Bravo Troupe: Beginning Musical Theater Skills Class will take place Wednesdays, October-January and/or January-March from 4-5pm at the American Fork Fitness Center. $30 per month. Bravo Troupe performs three pre-shows for AFYT’s production of Cinderella.
History & Heritage Pageant
This pageant offers vibrant history through vignettes, crafts, displays, wagon rides food and entertainment. The pageant runs August 25th, 27th and 28th from 6pm until 9:30pm at the AF Cemetery, 26 west 600 N, American Fork, UT. $3.00 a person, $15.00 a family (group rates are $2.00 a person). Ice cream for 50 cents; Wagon rides for $1. Some crafts have a small fee and some are free. Food trucks will be there as well. The Timpanogos Arts Foundation and American Fork Arts Institute are bringing the History and Heritage Pageant to American Fork. The pageant highlights our community’s vibrant history and presents live vignettes of people who are buried there. Histories of people, places, and events pertaining to American Fork are also available. It offers a very informative and moving experience and memorable tales from the past. Entertainment includes Ryan Hardman on Saturday, The Old Time Fiddlers on Monday and Clive Romney on Tuesday.

Timpanogos Chorale will begin rehearsing for our Winter 2018 season on August 23rd. We’re always excited to add new voices, and will be auditioning new members. Just bring your voice and a smile!

LIFE DRAWING with Chuck Gilliam
This life drawing class will help you come to an understanding of how you can draw the human figure. We will begin with recognizing the various components that make up the human figure. From there we will build on this basic structure and learn to draw the human figure in any pose we want. We will continue this process and learn how to clothe the figure. The class will focus on all of this the first day. On the second day, we will have live models posing in various positions and in various costumes to allow the artists to develop their skills in drawing the human figure. You will need a sketchbook or paper and various drawing instruments such as pencils and erasers. You may also bring colored pencils and/or colored pastels if you wish, especially on the second day. ACRYLIC PAINTING with Heidi Boden
We are excited to announce an acrylic painting class in the month of September. It will be held Saturdays on the 15th and 22nd from 10 AM until 1 PM at the American Fork Arts Institute, 53 W Main in American Fork. This class will be designed to teach acrylic painting for all. The instructor, Heidi Boden, will take you through all of the elements involved in painting with acrylics. Be ready for the fun part: putting paint to paper or canvas. You will be presented with the many techniques available for your use with acrylic paints. Techniques such as dry brush, stippling, splattering, dabbing and layering will be taught, just to name a few. We look forward to your attending this exciting class. LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY with Andrew Davidson
Learn to take landscape photographs with Andrew Davidson, September 15th and 22nd, 2018 from 10am-1pm at the American Fork Arts Institute, 53 W Main Street, American Fork. Andrew has a great love for hiking and for photography. For him, photography is an appendage of his love of nature. His desire is that his photography can stir some of the emotions, the awe and the wonder and peace of nature that he has experienced when he took his photographs. Andrew will share with you the basic elements need to be able to take photographs that inspire other when they look at your own photographs. He will talk about balance, lightings, positioning, etc. All of these are components that make up a great photograph. He will take the class out to one of our local areas and work with you to take your own exciting photographs. Bring your own camera and become inspired by what you see and learn to capture it on your camera, and then share it with others. We look forward to your attending this exciting class.
